Ah, Jane! This girl have captured my attention ever since her soundtrack画心 to the movie画皮. She interested me further when she sang the OP 天下无双to 神雕侠侣 2006 version. Her remarkable vocal ability is irrefutable. However, her choice of songs (boring, ballady, or weird jazz) have hurt her chances. Netizens have often commented on her uncatchy songs. So how is her new album? Jane’s appearance has changed from “good-girl” to “hot girl”.

This song is very poppy. Jane sounds like she got attitude, very different from her gentle image. But there seems to be no focus for this song.

A very beautiful sad ballad about love. If the ballad is epic/grand, Jane does a marvelous job displaying her vocal prowess. Keep it up!

A very syrupy sweet thing that makes me go “Uuurk”. Jane keeps on chanting “I do oh my love”. If saccharine cute songs are your thing, chances are you would like this. I don’t.

Very emotional rocky ballad. Jane stretched her voice to the max, and the lyrics made profound sense. Way to go!

Apart from a couple of songs I haven’t heard, Jane’s new album is average. A mess in some parts, utterly brilliant in others. I applaud some decisions (like including soundtracks) while scratching my head to others (like including the cover). Overall, Jane’s vocals have improved but her choice of songs still leave me confounded. Maybe she should change her image in a more positive light, and spend more time making an album (writing her own songs). However this album is a HUGE improvement from the previous one.
